Do jumping spiders bite?
Almost never. A jumper’s first, second, and third instinct is to hop away from anything scary. Bites are a genuine last resort, they’re about on par with a bee sting, and in years of handling I’ve never taken one. You would basically have to squeeze her.
Are they hard to keep?
They’re the easiest spider there is, and honestly one of the easiest pets. Room temperature, a light misting a few times a week, and feeding every couple of days. The printed care card in every box covers the routine, and the longer versions live in the care guides.
What should I have ready before she arrives?
An enclosure, a fine mister, and feeder insects. If you’re starting from zero, the Spood Starter Kit plus any enclosure in the shop covers everything except the feeders, which your local pet store sells.
Where do you ship?
Anywhere in the United States when the weather allows it, Monday through Wednesday, overnight. The shop shows a banner whenever live shipping is on a weather hold. International shipping isn’t possible, sorry.
Can I pick up locally instead?
Yes. I’m in Richmond, Virginia, and pickup or a meetup is usually easy to arrange. Message the chat and we’ll set it up.
How long will she live?
Females usually live one to two years, sometimes longer, and males a good bit less. A juvenile gives you the most time together, while an adult female shows you her full color and personality from day one.
What happens if she doesn’t survive shipping?
That’s what the live arrival guarantee is for. Send photos of the unopened box within an hour of delivery and I’ll make it right with a replacement or store credit. The full terms are on the shipping page.
Can I handle her?
Carefully, yes. Work low over a soft surface, let her walk onto your hand on her own, and never grab. The rehousing guide covers safe handling and what to do if she goes exploring.
